current work
I am developing two related pieces of work. One about myself, my life and who and what I am, and why. In other words, I am contemplating my childhood. There is a particular emphasis on my mental health (I was diagnosed with cyclothymia, a milder form of bipolar disorder, in 2019).
I am also working on a project about an ancient area of woodland in Suffolk, composed of very old oaks, birches and hollies. I find this place reassuring, comforting and therapeutic, and I am exploring why that might be. I am also intrigued by man’s relationship with trees: we have relied in them for fuel, structures, boats, tools and much else for centuries. How today do we relate to, appreciate and repay them?
