The work looks through several lenses – geography, history, mankind, natural history, and decline – to emphasise differences, similarities, ironies and dissonances, showing how how each country is faring in difficult times.
The photography was analogue, and the hand-made book is Coptic-bound, an ancient Egyptian method, with a Swiss-binding cover.
A small concertina book is of serendipitous faulty photographs, and a similarly-sized book of texts is derived from a journal of the two trips together with voice recording transcripts.
